As a response to President Trump’s imposition of steep tariffs on imports from our closest allies, a group of Republicans is launching a new campaign called Republicans Fighting Tariffs. The group is kicking off its campaign by airing this commercial nationally on Wednesday during Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria” and on Wednesday and Thursday in Washington, D.C. during CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and Fox Business’ “Mornings with Maria.”
Scott Lincicome, a Senior Visiting Lecturer at Duke Law School and a Senior Policy Adviser for Republicans Fighting Tariffs, released the following statement about the launch of the new organization:
Republicans Fighting Tariffs was formed to remind everyone why the Republican Party is the party of free trade. Tariffs are regressive taxes on American businesses and families, repeatedly proven to be both harmful and ineffective. Free trade simply gets the government out of Americans’ daily transactions, producing strong businesses, good jobs, low prices, and a thriving economy in the process. Implementing unwarranted tariffs is a direct threat to our growing economy and presence on the world stage. Republicans everywhere need to come together and tell Senator Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to allow a vote on the bill that would restore Congress’ constitutional trade power, save jobs and stop these tariffs.
