Featured in today’s Washington Post is an op-ed by Republicans for the Rule of Law director Sarah Longwell encouraging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party to stay consistent in their fight to uphold the rule of law.
In 1998, Senator McConnell gave a speech from the Senate floor defending Kenneth Star’s investigation into President Clinton, arguing “The allegations are grave, the investigation is legitimate and ascertaining the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the unqualified, unevasive truth is absolutely critical.”
Sarah draws parallels between that investigation and the investigation currently taking place by Robert Mueller in an effort to persuade the Republican Leadership to do their part in protecting the impartiality and integrity of these investigations.
